How Many Google Reviews Should a Pest Control Company Have?
The short answer
Pest control runs on recurring relationships — quarterly visits and ongoing plans — which gives companies a steady stream of moments to earn reviews that one-off trades don’t have. Rather than guess at a target, here is what a real local pest control market looks like, measured from the businesses Laudvi analyzed.

Data collected September 2026
A sample of the 168 Pest Control businesses Laudvi analyzed in this market (medians reflect the 159 with a Google review count). Anonymous, aggregate figures only — no individual business is identified. How we measured this.
The median is a midpoint, not a target
A median of roughly 33 reviews means half the pest control companies analyzed have more and half have fewer. It’s a reference point, not a finish line — clearing it doesn’t complete your reputation, and sitting below it doesn’t make you a failure.
The range is the real lesson
The middle 50% of companies here run from 8 to 106 reviews, with companies outside it on both sides. When the typical band is that wide, no single “right number” exists. A newer operator and an established company with a large recurring book are not measured against the same count.
Rating and review count answer different questions
The median rating in this market is 4.8 out of 5 — high and clustered near the top of the scale, as with most local home services. Rating is close to table stakes: a low one stands out, but a near-perfect one doesn’t distinguish you. For pest control, where results take days to show and service is ongoing, recent reviews that reflect the current experience carry real weight alongside the count.
Recurring service is an underused review engine
The reason some pest control companies sit high in the local range isn’t luck — it’s that every quarterly visit is another natural, low-pressure moment to ask a satisfied customer. Companies that only ask after the first treatment leave most of their opportunities on the table.
How to judge where you stand
Instead of chasing a universal target, ask a few grounded questions:
- Where does your review count fall against the local range — below the middle 50%, inside it, or above it?
- Is your rating in the normal high band for the trade, or is something pulling it down?
- Are your reviews recent, or did they stop after your early customers? Recency reflects current service.
- Are you asking on recurring visits, not just after the first treatment?
If you’re below the range, use the recurring relationship
Pest control companies in or above the local range ask a few days after a treatment has visibly worked, and again on recurring visits. If your count is low, that’s the lever.
